Marketers can make the most of millions of stock images online, and while licensing images can help improve content performance, it is worth investing in original images. The site has a rich visual library that can be searched in 28 languages and more than 3,000,000 high-resolution videos. This site hosts regular challenges that encourage videographers and photographers to create high-quality content on a particular theme.
Pixabay
Pixabay has a large collection of stock images and illustrations that you can download for free. Each photo is nicely tagged to make it easier for users to find and search. The site boasts more than 2.3million images, mostly in the landscape category.
Important to remember that Pixels and Pixabay both operate under the same parent company, Canva.
Unsplash
Unsplash provides more than 2,000,000 free images from over 210,000 contributors. You can browse through the ‘Collections’, which are personally selected groups of photos from real users. The site’s strong selection of Asia-related content makes it stand out. It also has a higher quality image than most other free stock photo sites.
Freepik was named one of Europe’s fastest growing startups. It offers a carefully curated collection of illustrations and photos, icons, mockups and templates, something that you won’t find on other stock photo sites. Freepik currently hosts 4.5 million graphics, courtesy of 12,000 contributors. Some images can be downloaded in PSD format, which is a unique feature.
Freepik images are not always free, even though the name suggests so.
NegativeSpace
NegativeSpace offers more than 4,700 high quality CC0 photos. They can be sorted by color and tags. Many images can be used to complement your existing photo collection.
Shopify – Burst
Burst offers more than 29,000 royalty free images, with e-commerce in the forefront. You can search the photos by collections, staff picks and most popular. Users can also sort the photos based on e-commerce business ideas.
Everypixel
The platform claims to be able to combine 50 paid and free stock image sites such as Pixabay and Pexels. Users can browse using keywords or do a reverse image search. The user can then choose the type of image they are looking for (e.g. Search by color, author, or location of free areas.
Although the idea sounds fantastic, execution is not perfect. We have found that the site can occasionally lead to broken images. However, this is not necessarily a problem. Afterall, it’s free, right?
StockSnap.io
StockSnap.io, a sister website to Snappa, is an online tool that allows you to create graphics for websites, blogs, social media and advertising online. Before downloading any of the thousands of photos, users can edit each photo and make changes to it. StockSnap’s main collection includes landscape and nature photography.
CannyPic
Cannypic organizes its content into three categories: vectors, icons, or photos. Cannypic’s strength is its 90,000+ vectors for free, which are divided into different categories and keywords. This vast array of vector resources is free. Before downloading any images, users must register.
Nappy
Nappy only offers photos of people who are black or brown. This site is designed to promote ethnic minority communities in marketing materials. The site was launched in 2017 and has generated over 1 million downloads
